Hallway Chronicles: Elias Tsavoussis
As a lifer and captain of the JV B Basketball Team, Elias Tsavoussis can almost always be found on the Berkeley campus. We caught up with Elias to see what’s going on in his busy life.
Q: As a lifer at Berkeley, how do you feel your life has changed since coming in Pre-Kindergarten?
A: I feel like I am much more adjusted than kids who have come later, and I know how Berkeley works.
Q: People at Berkeley have been comparing you to Jake Gyllenhaal. Can you tell me how this reference started?
A: This reference is from the movie Prisoners. Jake Gyllenhaal is depicted as always buttoning up his shirts, and my friend Thomas Fuhrman and I began to also button up our shirts as homage to Gyllenhaal. We just thought Jake Gyllenhaal was really cool.
Q: What is your favorite class? Why is this your favorite class?
A: My favorite class is probably AP European history with Dr. P. I really like Dr. P as a teacher, and I just think European history is really interesting to learn about, and it’s something that people aren’t required to learn in the US.
Q: What extracurricular activities do you participate in?
A: I am a part of the JV B Varsity Ballers, and we are currently 8-2 so we are going strong.
Q: How long have you been playing basketball? Why do you like basketball so much?
A: I’ve only been playing basketball since last year. I just did it as something that was fun to do, and I like doing it. I just think it’s a really fun game to play, and you can see your results as you get better.
