Daijsa Green ’23 gives her farewell speech to the class of 2023 in a fun and creative way

When Senior Class President Daijsa Green ‘23 departed from Berkeley’s campus one final time, she left us with a reminder: we should always try to cherish memories and those around us.

As Green prepares to make the next step of her academic journey to Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she spoke with The Fanfare about her time at Berkeley.

Green’s favorite memory of her senior year was the “Senior Sunrise”—A tradition in which all the seniors sit on Dicky Field to watch the sunrise on the first day of school. Green most enjoyed taking pictures with friends at this time and feels very proud of how far she has come since then.

Green wanted to leave some advice for the next Senior Class President David Fink ’24, “There will be a lot of trial and error with ups and downs; however, you should remain confident in your abilities and stay focused on planning memorable and fun events for your class. I know you will succeed in all that you do and I’m rooting for you!”

She also left some advice for the entire class of 2024, “I know senior year seems daunting and it can be easy to wish that it can just hurry up and be over. Instead, you should soak in every moment because it will go by faster than you know. Enjoy your friends, the long cafeteria lines, the milkshakes and (most importantly) the senior lot because soon you’ll be replacing all of the above with new experiences that your future colleges have to offer. In your senior year and future years, remember to be in the moment and enjoy the present.”
