On Friday September 19, the Berkeley Swim and Dive team travelled four hours to Jacksonville to compete against the Bolles School. Bolles attracts athletes from around the world for their sports teams, resulting in the best swim team in the state, and has won several national championships; it was an honor for Berkeley to compete against a school of with such a high caliber of athletes. Lindsey Marian β€˜18, who swam the 200 individual medley, 500 freestyle and 200 and 400 freestyle relays said her favorite part of the meet was “being able to compete against the best swimmers in the nation.”

Kevin Rosepapa, Berkeley’s head swimming coach, is proud of how the team performed and said β€œThe swimming and diving team continues to challenge itself during practice, competing against the best competition to reach our goals.” The Bucs’ swim team certainly did well, with Graham Olney β€˜15, winning the 100 back and Bradley Mitchell β€˜16, Keating Mosher β€˜16, and Elle Chancey β€˜15, earning second place in their respective events. Berkeley’s divers also performed especially well, with Jesse Potts β€˜17, winning overall for the boys, Hugo Rapp β€˜15, earning second place, Reed Cecil β€˜19, in fourth and Leo Crino β€˜20, in fifth. Nicole Stambo β€˜19, got first place for the girls, Stephanie Punzak β€˜16, got second, Amy Wotovich β€˜21, came in 4th and Amanda Dumar β€˜17, earned 6th.

This event was a very competitive meet forΒ  the Berkeley swim and dive team, yet everyone performed their best and achieved highly against one of the nation’s top swim teams.
