“Teaching is not just a profession for me; it’s a lifelong passion that continues to inspire and challenge me every day,” said new Upper Division English teacher Meric Dunn. Her love for teaching originated from her fascination with the power of ideas and the beauty of words.
Dunn also finds an appreciation for the supportive Berkeley community that she has recently become a part of.
“I’ve been especially struck by the warmth and openness of the students and staff. There’s a genuine sense of community here that I find both inspiring and refreshing,” she said.
Dunn has a great attitude that is sure to bring a positive light to not only the English Department, but to Berkeley as a whole. Her experience working at international schools is what has molded her unique perspective.
“It has made me empathetic, globally aware and attuned to the importance of diverse viewpoints,” said Dunn. “I’ve come to understand that nurturing this awareness in the classroom creates a more inclusive and open environment for learning.”
We could not be more excited to welcome Mrs. Dunn into our Berkeley family!
