Last weekend, the Berkeley Buccaneers football team voyaged across the Gulf to New Orleans, where they took on No. 1 junior recruit Arch Manning and the Isidore Newman Greenies. The Buccaneers came out victorious, winning 49-24.

Although the Bucs were hundreds of miles away from Tampa, the crowd was enthusiastic, animated and loud as if Berkeley were playing at Newman Field. Fans also watched from home, where some students hosted watch parties. The GEICO player of the game, Iowa State commit Xavier Townsend ’22, scored five touchdowns, ran a total of 351 yards and even intercepted a pass while on defense. The Buccaneers advanced to a record of 8-0, and are getting ready to play Plant High School for the Homecoming game and Senior Night at Newman Field after a bye week. Go Bucs!
