A Tour of the Seivold Center for Early Childhood Development

On August 20th, Berkeley welcomed parents, students and teachers to the Seivold Center for Early Childhood Development (also known as the Seivold Center). This new building has state of the art facilities for preschoolers, kindergarteners and first graders.

  • SPANISH SEATING: There are window seats with book storage, a kitchen set and many toys in the Spanish room.

  • FIRST GRADE CLASSROOM: One of the first grade classrooms has four person tables and a staircase to a play area.

  • AMAZING ARTS: The new arts classroom is equipped with prints of famous paintings and tables for students to paint, sketch and color.

  • OUTDOOR LUNCH: A terrace is located outside of the kitchen and has tables for lunch time.

  • MINI CAFE: The new building has a personal kitchen for the students in the lunch area.

  • MAKING MUSIC: The music room has bleachers for the students, speakers and lots of instruments.

  • PRESCHOOL TREEHOUSE: A mini indoor playground sits at the entrance of the preschool area with toys and a play set.

  • TERRIFIC TERRACE: The terrace is shared between both of the preschool classrooms and is stocked with benches and easels.

  • PRESCHOOL CLASSROOM: A classroom for preschoolers complete with cubbies and a reading area.

  • KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOM: One of the classrooms for kindergarten is complete with a staircase to a play kitchen.

  • PRESENTING AREA: Behind the entrance is a room for presentations and events.

  • FIRST GRADE HALLWAY: This hallway has seats for first graders and backpack hooks.

  • ENCHANTING ENTRANCE: The Seivold Center houses a tree in its entrance that stretches to the second floor of the building. It stands for the academic and emotional growth of students in the center.
