Trick-or-Treat Florida!

Consider celebrating Halloween this year at one of the best Halloween festivities happening around Tampa and Orlando.

We’ve all been there. That moment when you realize Halloween falls at the most inconvenient time — whether it’s right before a history research paper is due or right before a big test. And this year is no different, with Halloween falling on a Monday. For Berkeley students in tenth and eleventh grade, it also falls just two days before the PSAT. But fear not! There are plenty of local attractions that you can partake in not only in Tampa, but also in Orlando (an hour’s drive away!). In this week’s edition of Oh! The Places You Should Go, you can find the best Halloween activities that you can still do while juggling your busy schedule.

  • Howl-O-Scream: Probably the most popular Tampa attraction, Howl-O-Scream is Busch Garden’s take on Halloween thrills and chills. Not only can you ride the roller coasters in the dark of night, but you can also visit seven different haunted houses. This year’s theme is “Evil Encore,” and showcases new haunted houses like The Black Spot and old favorites such as Death Water Bayou. Be careful! Some unassuming park-goers are actually Busch Gardens employees set to surprise and scare you! Tickets range from $65.99 to just $35.99 when you buy tickets with friends and the events takes place on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

  • Halloween Horror Nights: This Universal Studios extravaganza includes themes from The Exorcist, American Horror Story, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Walking Dead. You can go to different haunted houses and “scare zones,” where hidden monsters are everywhere. Halloween Horror Nights occur on select dates between September 16 and November 5. Tickets for Florida residents start at $59.99.

  • Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: Have siblings? Are your parents wary of going somewhere super scary for Halloween, but want to do something as a family? Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World is the perfect place. There is something for everyone, from an awesome trip in the Haunted Mansion to a fireworks show to numerous sightings of famous Disney villains (Ursula, where you at?). You can trick-or-treat throughout the park, and some characters even have costumes of their own. Tickets start at $72.00 and the party takes place on certain nights from September 2 to October 31.

  • Scream-a-Geddon: This park has many haunted houses, and those who are 18 and older have the option of “marking” themselves. This practice allows the employees to interact with those going through the haunted houses. Haunted houses include the Blackpool Prison and Infected. Prices for tickets range from $23 to $35 dollars, and you can visit any night of the week until Halloween is over.
