Berkeley Athletes Show Off Their Skills at Spring Tailgate

Last Friday, Berkeley students lit up the Straz during the pep rally, with everyone wearing glowing blue bracelets. Students at the pep rally showed their support for  tennis, baseball, softball, lacrosse and track and field, and that night, the Bucs had an amazing performance throughout all of the sports.

The tennis team played very well, with the girls losing by just a small margin. The baseball team defeated Tampa Catholic 5-1, but the softball team could not pull out a win against Tampa Catholic. The lacrosse teams played Alonso and the boys won 16-2, while the girls won 14-4.

Berkeley’s track and field team dominated. The high jump athletes saw a lot of competition, but Bradley Mitchell ‘16 managed to get first on the boys’ side and Stephanie Punzak ‘16 got  second for the girls. In the running events, athletes took top finishes in the 100 m. hurdles, 100-meter dash, 4×100-meter relay, 400-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles, 800-meter run, 200-meter dash, 3200-meter run and the 4×400-meter relay.

The Bucs dominated this tailgate, and hopefully will continue to do so in the years to come.
